What a great read! Ralph Lauren is classic old New England style that morphs between seaside cottages, grand estates and every beautiful neighborhood throughout the region. It’s so good to see the classic understated elegance return in kitchen gardens too!

Absolutely loved reading how you translate design concept to landscape - always interesting to learn about other’s creative process, how they see & think about design esp a medium that is not talked about as much as other design mediums

Yes! Some of Christian Douglas' work could be construed as Ralph Lauren kitchen garden for sure. I hope you show us the final result (and I hope it involves some espalier trees because I'm having a crush on them right now)

“Whenever we aren’t playing with an established example, we’re searching for a feeling.”

Yes—when there’s no template to follow, feeling becomes the compass. It’s how we find our way into something honest, even when we don’t yet have the words.

I worked at Nordstrom throughout college and grad school. We're talking the Nordstrom of old - live piano playing, lollipops for the children in Kids Shoes, walking a customer throughout the store to find their perfect pieces. Sold A LOT of Ralph Lauren. Always loved how wearable and timeless this house is. And, loved reading this take in the garden.
